Dr. Ross J. Horsburgh has been appointed vice president of global clinical development Asia/Pacific, Kendle. In this role, he will lead the company’s overall expansion in this region and provide strategic oversight for its Phase II-III operations, including Melbourne and Sydney, Australia; New Delhi, India; and Beijing, China. “With a population base of nearly 4 billion and R&D spending expected to reach $20 billion by 2013, Asia/Pacific is recognized by our customers as one of the more dynamic regions in which to conduct clinical trials,” said chairman and chief executive officr Dr. Candace Kendle. “Dr. Horsburgh’s extensive clinical development experience and familiarity with the Asia/Pacific region will benefit both our customers and Kendle as we execute on our growth strategy for this pivotal market.” Dr. Horsburgh has 20 years of CRO and pharmaceutical industry experience. Prior to joining the company, he was regional medical director, Asia Pacific for AstraZeneca, where he assembled and led a team of 200 across 13 markets. Dr. Horsburgh also held positions with Ciba and the Auckland Hospital Board. Dr. Horsburgh will report directly to Dr. Kendle for Asia/Pacific expansion and to Martha Feller, Ph.D., senior vice president, global clinical development for Phase II-III operations. He will be based in Singapore.
